LavinMQ v2.0.0 is now live
Written by: Elin Vinka
We have been working hard on something big, and finally it’s time to set it free! Today, we’re releasing LavinMQ 2.0.0 - the first version of LavinMQ that comes with the ability to set up and run a high-availability cluster.
Even though LavinMQ is very powerful and resilient as a single node, high availability has been on our wish-list for some time. It has been of highest importance for us that this feature aligns with what LavinMQ deserves, given that it is such a fast and lightweight broker. Therefore, a lot of testing, planning, and evaluation led up to this point. This resulted in our clustering model that includes etcd leader election, which uses the raft consensus algorithm - a fast, well-known, and trustworthy solution, perfect for LavinMQ.
You shouldn’t have to choose between a fast and a safe broker, and now you don’t have to. Adding the possibility to run LavinMQ in cluster mode makes it possible to get both. In our documentation, we have written a full guide on how to get started with LavinMQ clustering. And, to put this into context, we wrote a blog post where we describe why we chose to integrate with etcd.
For a full 2.0.0 release specification, read the GitHub notes: Release specification.
We’d love for you to try it out and share your feedback on this feature. We’re available at contact@lavinmq.com, but the easiest way is to join our Slack group, where we help each other through community wisdom. If you are interested in hosting alternatives, visit CloudAMQP.com.
